Spring Volunteer Opportunities for Parents and Community Members

1. May 18-20th Be a Senior Project Panelist!!
Help our school and our seniors by being on a Senior Projects Panel. Panelist will be asked to listen to presentations on research papers about various peace and social justice topics. This is GREAT opportunity to fill a need at the school and hear what our students are thinking!!

2. April 26, 2009 Legs Against Arms Race: Run/Walk/Volunteer with Parkway Students or create your own Team! This 5K Run/Walk is dedicated to celebrating youth and preventing violence. Many Teams this year are running on behalf of loved ones who have been hurt or lost to violence.

3. May 2, Mt. Airy Day 11AM-5PM:
Help our students set up the table, promote and draw people to our table on the day of the event, OR help students represent their work if you are currently partnered with Parkway Northwest on a project.
4. Ongoing: Mentoring for 2009/2010!!
Sign up NOW to be a mentor for this spring or in the fall of 2009! NOW is a great time to enroll to begin the mentor program process and be prepared in September to be matched with a 9th or 10th Grade Parkway student!

Chaperone Opportunities:
5. April 14th Holocaust Museum Trip:
Join Parkway Students and Champions of Caring and go to Washington DC to see the famous Holocaust Museum! This will be an opportunity to have a powerful and life changing experience with young people as they experience the museum for the first time.
6. April 23rd America I AM Exhibit:
Accompany 60 of our seniors to see the America I AM Exhibit at the National Constitution Center! Aprox. 9AM-2PM more details TBA
7. April 24th-26th Fellowship Farms Retreat:
We need chaperones (especially men) for this leadership retreat. Help our students become strong and independent leaders by spending the weekend with us at fellowship farms!
Note: ALL chaperones must have completed a background check and child abuse form, and may have to be physically active. This is an opportunity for those who have worked with our young people before or who have knowledge about leadership trainings.
