After School Student CDC Activities Schedule
Art Club! Meets Thursdays after school in the Student CDC at 2:15
Ms. Quillen, art teacher from Simon Gratz High School helped Parkway students complete a fundraising project for those who are hungry called ‘empty bowls’.
All Acceptance Alliance! Meets Tuesdays after school at 3:15 in the Student CDC
New ideas and programs in the works! Open House was held 3/3/09. We may participate again in a Day of Silence, start a film series, connect to other All Acceptance groups in the city and learn about tolerance and peace.
Breakfree Design Group: Meets Mondays after school in the Library at 3:15
Students are working with Ms. Andrea Coffey and Emily Gleason to design and sew their own handbags, patches, and clothing/ Students will create a small business model to sell their products and a portfolio of their designs. First meeting was held Monday October 20th.
Knitting Club! Meets Thursdays during lunch in the hallway
Ms. Mariana Eckerdt teaches many knitting and crochet projects!
STAR! Meets Mondays after school at 3:15
Students will be selected by STAR facilitators to join the group to learn and talk about the important relationships in their lives. STAR meets on Mondays from 3:15-4:30PM.
Help Increase the Peace: Meets Thursdays After School at 3:15
Students are working with Zach Stone using Quaker Anti-Violence Project techniques to design workshops to train students in how to increase tolerance and peace specifically at Parkway Northwest.
Weavers-Way Collaborative Projects:
Recycling: Meets monthly in the Student CDC
Students have been working with the Weavers Way environmental committee during monthly lunch meetings. They have gotten city, co-mingled recycling bins in the school and are currently brainstorming how best to move forward with school-wide education initiatives.
Marketplace: Meets Wednesdays after school at 3:15 in room 200 for Packing
Weavers-way co-op has been working with students since October to package and sell healthy, local and organic foods at Parkway during lunch time on Thursdays. First meeting was Wednesday, October 16th at 3:15PM. Students pack every Wednesday and sell every Thursday during lunch times.
